Why Do I Write?

Um… because I want to. Duh!

But really, have you ever sat back to think about this question? To allow the question to marinate into your mind, your heart, and your soul until its clutching your lungs so you can’t breathe? I love asking myself this question from time to time. It’s one of those reassurances, I believe, to keep me motivated.

Why do I write? Before I know it I have a long list of reasons why I write and I’m stuck grinning like a hyena whose gotten his eye on dinner. Yes. Writing is my dinner. I love to savor every story that winds up on paper until all its ingredients down to the letters are bursting alive on my taste buds – my paper.

I enjoy writing. It’s the air I breathe. When I write a story, I want my readers to feel the freedom I feel as I was writing it. I allow my mind to be free and explore the deeper corners of my imagination. Writing is relaxing and reviving. Every day I find myself writing something. It could be the beginning or the ending of a story, a chapter to my books-in-progress, or a blog piece that’s been on my mind for a while. Like this one!

Take writing personally. Whenever someone say “oh so you want to be a writer?” I go “No! I AM a writer, honey!”

I’ve done the research and sweated bullets to keep myself motivated to do what I love and do best. Nothing will keep me from releasing my imagination to the world. This is why I signed up to Wattpad many years ago, to share my work with likeminded people. So I recommend you find a workshop or a platform where you can express yourself.

So why do I write? Well, because it’s who I am.

I want to know, why do you write? What inspired you to write? What kind of writing do you do? Place your thoughts below.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Have a blessed day,

From LeQuita
